Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Update 26th April: Well we did it, 24 hours and 22 minutes and 40th place overall. Very happy but now very, very sore all over...well worth it though :-)
For some unknown reason and following a drunken discussion in a pub, me and Adrian Ross agreed to take part in the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon this year. This race is held every Easter over a course of 125 miles (201 kilometres) from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster in central London. It has been run since 1948. Starting at Devizes wharf, the route follows the Kennet and Avon canal for 54 miles to Reading, where it joins the Thames. Another 54 miles later it reaches Teddington Lock, ending 17 miles later at Westminster Bridge.
You can read more about it at the website http://www.dwrace.org.uk/index.php
Personalities to own a DW medal are former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Paddy Ashdown, explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes and Rebecca Stephens, the first woman to climb Everest solo.
By the way Adrian and me are in Ranulph Fiennes boat :-) So after never being in a boat last summer, starting serious training in September we are here now facing 125 miles non-stop race this weekend.....
I know I'm late with this but I've decided to raise money for the SVP, a charity that my dad has worked for for many years and they do great work in the UK and all over the world.
Anything you donate will be much appreciated.
Cheers
Dom
