Art and the mystery of the Word made flesh

The company who brought you 'A Theresian Mystery Play' and 'The Quality of Mercy' is fundraising to continue their work.

Divine Comedy Productions was formed at the Oxford Oratory as a response to John Paul II's call to artists, and lauched in September 2009 with a modern mystery play about Heaven, Hell and St Therese of Lisieux. In Easter week of 2011, they launched their latest production at the Catholic Chaplaincy on St Aldates: a new play set in the final week of John Paul II's life.

The Quality of Mercy: A group of young pilgrims hiking from Rome to a mysterious shrine in the mountains in the week after Easter have a 'Road to Emmaus' experience along the way. In preparation for the Beatification of our Patron on Divine Mercy Sunday, at the end of the production week, the play explores the personality and philosophy of this exceptional man. The cast was comprised of various young Oratory parishoners, and even our own Parish Priest!

We worked to a miniscule budget, and could really use some financial help. We wanted to tell this story as professionally as possible, but lighting and sound equipment don't grow on trees.  In addition, we have since been invited to bring the play to Rome, but need to raise the funds to make that possible. Every little helps, and we thank you in advance for your support!
