Dickie, Rich Smith and I are taking part in the HSBC Eton Dorney Lake Sprint Triathlon fast approaching next Sunday 16th September! The distance - 750m swim, 20km cycle & 5km run.
It all came about as I thought it would be a good idea to enter Dickie and Rich into the triathlon as a birthday present –what a nice friend I am!
There has been a huge amount of training put in by all from Rich's Boris bike training regime through to Dickie's daily cycle sprint up Notting Hill Gate - everyone's revving up for an active Sunday!
Witnessing all this effort made me think we should additionally try and raise some money for charity.
We have chosen Friends of PICU as they were highly influential in the care for my cousins little boy Ollie who was born with complications and who sadly lost his battle with life at 10 months old in July this year.
Friends of PICU looks after critically ill children in the South of England offering support to families by sourcing vital equipment and services that are not normally provided by the authorities. Recent purchases include Oxygen Head boxes (maintains required oxygen levels for babies), Bedside trolleys and Apnoea Alarms (to detect breathing in babies).
It would mean so much to us all, especially Nicola & Mark, Ollie's parents, if you would be kind enough to take this opportunity to make a donation to Friends of PICU. In return we promise plenty of action shots of three svelte men in wetsuits, Lycra and running attire...
Should you fancy an afternoon out to Eton Dorney Lake our heat is at 14.35 and everyone is welcome – Go Team Da Bush!
