Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am cycling Coast to Coast on Wed & Thurs the 19th & 20th Sept 2012 and then cycling the 100 mile Lancashire Loop on the 30th Sept 2012. This is all in aid of Retrak's ZERO Appeal.
Makena (below) is a 10 year old Kenyan girl who spent 270 days sleeping on the streets, alone. This is why I am cycling in the hope that fewer and fewer children have to endure that horrendous experience. Ultimately Retrak is working towards seeing ZERO street children having to life on the streets.
Retrak is a charity that works with street children in Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda, to help them return home. If you are able to donate up to the 5th Dec then the UK Government will match £1 for £1 your donation meaning Retrak can help even more street children return home off the streets.
Here is how different gifts can help Retrak achieve their aim of ZERO children being forced to live on the streets with UKAid's support:
- £15 will become £30 and can help two street children start their journey home
- £20 will become £40 and could provide counseling for two abused street children
- £50 will become £100 and is enough to provide a vulnerable child with food, shelter and care for two months
- £300 will become £600 and could enable a older street child to learn a skill or trade so that they can earn money and support themselves into adulthood
- £1,250 will become £2,500 and would allow Retrak to train and employ a social worker who will work to get hundreds of children off the streets every year
- £1,750 will become £3,500 and is the cost of a nurse and the medical equipment needed to care for 250 children living on the streets
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
