Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours from midnight on 27th May. This with be throughout night and day and I will be completing 2 marathons over the 48 hours.
I'm just a simple dad trying to set the best example for children. It helps that I love fitness and challenging myself, so this type of challenge should meet all expectations.
I love my children more than anything. I want to show my children that if you put your mind to something, your body will follow your mind also.
By doing this challenge I can help others understand some of the difficulties children with autism face.
This is how I can let my son and daughter know how much they mean to me.
I struggle with Joshua's autism, only in a way that I struggle to understand it. Recently I have come to learn how he sometimes views the world and how it can be extremely challenging and at times very scary. There is a whole range of difficulties that he and many others experience all the time, that's why its referred to as a spectrum.
Some children are labelled as being naughty (and sometimes, they are just naughty) but many deal with issues in very different ways that we as adults (me as a dad too) expect to be dealt with by what we consider normal responses. But as with autism, no response simply normal, they are different and unique.
I just want to help my son and others fulfil their potential and do whatever they want to in life. I do not want them hindered or labelled, I'm just a simple dad who wants what's best for his child.
I will be starting on Friday morning, if anybody wishes to run with, just contact me (Saturday I will be in Whitstable). Runs will be starting at 00:00 and will be every 4 hours after.
