As many of you are aware I am very particular about how my hair is and would never want to lose it. But Lou's journey is one of the most hardest things I've heard anyone go through and to lose my tiny bit of hair is nothing and so I am shaving my head in aid of Team Verrico who supported Lou throughout this horrible time.
Here is her story quoted from the Team Verrico Facebook page, February last year:
You may recall Lou is a 32 year old woman from Scunthorpe facing an incurable cancer diagnosis. At the age of 26, after a year of trying for a baby without success she was diagnosed with Bi-Lateral Ovarian Cancer, had both ovaries removed, but then an MRI showed the nodules were back in the cavity; it was discovered that the cancer had reoccurred on her womb so she had a full hysterectomy. Time passed and Lou thought she was cured; then devastating news - the cancer was back. This brave girl had another debulking surgery and made a decision in 2015 to try 18 weeks of paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy, which had minimal success.
Lou was told at the end of last year that her cancer was inoperable, incurable and nothing could be done for her.
That's when we got involved.
Lou had a second opinion on Harley Street. Out of that came new hope.
Lou had a major operation in London and is now able to post this update:
'The op at Queen Charlotte Hospital, London, has been a complete success - all cancer currently removed. Yes it will grow but at least I'm starting afresh. It's been extremely painful but I am not complaining. I am happy it is out. Cancer was all over skin of liver and bladder as well. But consultant got it all without having to remove any of the bowel. Hoping to be out early next week. Please, please, please thank everyone at Team Verrico all this was not possible without you. Will have a check up with the consultant back at Queen Charlotte early March. Love and thanks to you all Lou'
We are all delighted with this news and we are sure you will join us in wishing Lou all the best for the future - we know she reads every comment posted and please feel free to share this good news on Facebook.
We do this with your support. Lou's story is one of many we shall reflect on.
Wether it's a donation or just a share please do what you can.
Thanks Devan
