Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The project is facilitated by an international charity, AidCamps International, and we are aiming to raise €65,000 by June 2024. These funds go towards constructing a school building and supplying the necessary equipment and materials to provide quality education for children in the underprivileged village of Kalika, Nepal.
AkzoNobel / Dulux is covering the costs of the flights to and from Nepal, in-country travel, accommodation, and food, so every Euro raised goes directly to the building project - not getting us there.
My thirteen AkzoNobel colleagues and I will spend two weeks in the Kalika village to assist in completing the school-building project, providing the community and children with the opportunity to continue their education.
By creating this school, children get an education and a safe space to be in, which will help them stay on the right track and develop to their fullest potential.
Together, with all donations, big or small, we have a chance to give
these children a fair chance in life and make a lasting difference by building a brighter future.
Location:
Kalika, Devitar, Chitwan District in the Narayani Zone of southern Nepal.
150 Children split 74:76 boys to girls
Need For the Project:
The school was established in 1988 and is located in the East region, approximately 25 km from the Chitwan National Park. It caters to children from three distinct ethnic groups, two of whom are low-income rural groups.
The school currently consists of four tin-roofed buildings including two very old structures which are currently used for teaching, play, and administration. These two buildings are in a poor state of repair and suffer from damp conditions in the rainy season (leaking roofs and water penetrating the walls). The buildings are also cramped, dark, and poorly ventilated. The buildings have been repaired several times; however, this has only temporarily masked these deep-rooted problems.
Project Aim:
The school wants to demolish the two old buildings and replace them with a single, four-room building. Each room will be approximately 6.5m x 5.5m and have three windows and doors.
The building will be constructed to the standard required by the Government of Nepal.
Thank you in advance for all your help and donations supporting this cause- I couldn’t do this without your
generosity.
