Story
I'm running the Half Marathon in memory of my late Nana (Mary Edmond) who was a sufferer of the condition.
To help you understand exactly how this condition affected me directly I am going to share my story below;
My Nana wasn't just my Nana, she was my best friend and a role model in moulding me into the person I've become today. There's nothing I loved more than sitting down with a cuppa and a biscuit and having a good old chat with her.
Sadly, my Nana's health deteriorated in 2010 where it came to a point that she forgot who I was prior to her passing. This was a very difficult time of my life as I had not only lost my Nana with her passing, but hadn't had the chance to properly tell her just how much I loved her and hear those wonderful words from her mouth "I love you Son".
Whilst I never had the chance to do this, I have decided to run the Half Marathon in her honour and hopefully raise awareness and sponsorship for anyone suffering from the illness and to support any families that are going through exactly what I went through.
I would be eternally grateful for any support I can receive for this event and it would be great to raise awareness amongst you as this could be you one day.
I also extend the reason that I'm doing this to Jim Gardiner who is my kids' Great Granddad who also suffered from this prior to his passing in 2016.
Even if you can part with a small donation, it would be appreciated as I am not an experienced runner and need all the drive I can get.
Thank you in advance for all your support.
