Story
I am riding approximately 110 hilly miles over Dartmoor for the Dartmoor Classic in support of the Bike Project. My brother has been out helping in refugee camps in France and Greece over the past year, and I wanted to do something to help from home. A bit about the charity below:
Imagine living on £37 a week. It's enough for food, perhaps, but what about travel? If you need a new pair of shoes, what sacrifices will you have to make? These hard choices are the daily reality of a refugee in London.Bikes to the Rescue! We take second-hand bikes, fix them up and donate them to refugees and asylum-seekers. Why? One of our bikes can save a refugee £21 a week in bus fares. Having fled persecution and atrocity in their homeland, a bike helps them access food banks, legal advice, healthcare, education and more.
