Story
When RADA offered me a place this September, I could hardly believe my ears. I got into RADA! I had dreamed it, but hardly dared to think it could really happen to me. What an amazing priviledge to be offered a place. There's only a few places each year! I'm gonna frame that letter even if I don't manage to get there.
I've been passionate about Theatre since my teens, and now along with energy and enthusiasm, I have a little life, and theatrical costume experience, am reasonably intelligent, focused and very committed. I'm no stranger to hard work and long hours having run my own business and funded myself to a BA Honours with the Open University. Trouble is ... having a first degree now makes me ineligible for student funding, and contact time is high at RADA, in excess of 36 hours a week, which does not make it feesible for me to work during term time.
That's where you come in, of course. My next challenge is gathering finances to make it actually possible. It's a serious ask. And I've only got a few weeks before the start of term.
What I need is 9,000 for the first years fee. That's due on 12th September. Then I'll be looking for help with travelling (initially I'll be travelling from North Essex to London every day) and living expenses - rent, food, that kind a thing.
Of course, once I get going I'll try and reduce these costs as much as I can.
The Technical Theatre and Stage Management course is 2 years. So it'll be same again the year after. I think that in total I'm gonna need around 38,000. - But don't let that put you off. A little from everyone will help get closer to the goal.
