Story
WE DID IT - WE WALKED THE 20 MILES ON 15th MAY!
We had a great time, and only felt really tired about 3 or 4 miles from the finish. Had ideal weather, and the support from the Charity was amazing - 5 rest points where loads of fresh fruit and water was on offer plus loads of encouragement. The countryside through which we walked was lovely and the last stretch by the river Tay was stunning - what a way to earn money for a deserving charity & thanks to all of you who have sponsored me, and to those who are looking at this page for the first time all I can say is, please help me towards £750!
The story:
"A 20 mile walk? Of course I'll join you" I said, when a friend mentioned, at the beginning of April, that she & her sister were taking part in the Pink Ribbon Walk for Breast Cancer Care. My entry was confirmed on Friday 9th April, the walk was on 15th May and the training schedule is based on 12 weeks! HELP. The body held up, just, although there was a symphony of moans & groans from knees and other bits!
We started & finished at Scone Palace, near Perth & walked through rather splendid countryside, including tracks by the river Tay.
I was determined to complete it, despite my rather short training time, & I really want to earn some money for the charity as well. This is where you, my friends come in. This is the first such event I have ever taken part in and it is such a worthwhile cause so I hope you'll support me?
I spent as much of my free time as possible walking, here around Blair Drummond and further afield, and I have added some photos of "training" locations - I am so lucky to have such amazing scenery in which to train. The aquaduct shown is in Loch Ard Forest, and was completed in 1860 I believe. It takes water from Loch Katrine to Glasgow. Loch Freuchie is at Amulree which is south of Aberfeldy and west of Dunkeld in the Sma' Glen.
