Story
In a moment of madness I have agreed that from 30th June to 2nd July 2012 I will cycle from Maastricht in Belgium to the Greenwich, London. (Day one 116 miles, Day Two 104 miles and Day Three 135 miles).
I have been training now for almost 6 months come rain (lots) or shine (very little). Keeping me motivated through all the low moments of freezing feet and sore muscles, not to mention the hours spent sat on a 'razor blade' has been the fact that it is for a cause I strongly believe in.
That is why I am taking part in Right to Play 2012 Cycling Challenge. I am hoping to raise at least £1000 for Right to Play, a charity that uses games and sport to help some of the most disadvantaged children from more than 20 countries around the world. The charity uses the power of play to educate and enpower children regardless of gender, disability, social background, religion or ethnicity about teamwork, co-operation and respect - the best values of sport. Right to Play's ultimate goal is to encourage behaviour change as well as helping rebuild their communities that have often been destroyed by war, poverty or disease. Thanks to Right to Play each year more that 800,000 children take part in regular sport or play activities. To help build their self esteem, resist peer pressure, promote problem solving and building a capacity for communication are more than 15,000 coaches and teachers who are themselves supported by Right to Play.
It's a truly great cause and one that I am happy to endure three days of pain for.
I know you all get loads of requests for sponsorship but I would be extremely grateful if you can make my suffering worthwhile.
Many thanks
Deborah
