Donna Mills is raising money to bring Heart Screening to Penrith with Cardiac Risk in the Young.
" With my own family having a history of heart problems, and an active role within the football community, I feel that Heart Screening would be a huge benefit and need for our area
In order that we can bring Debbie and her team to Eden, I have made a commitment to raise the £12,000 necessary to cover the cost of screening over two days - 17th & 18th February 2024".
12 young adults are losing their lives every single week to an undetected heart defect, 80% of those with no prior symptoms whatsoever.
Debbie and Gary Dixon, tragically lost their beloved son Aaron aged just 23 years old, a much loved beautiful young man and treasured brother of Hollie, to an undiagnosed genetic heart defect, ARVC.
Aaron was born at Helme Chase Maternity Hospital on 23rd September 1987, the reason the Lakes is such a special place to his family.
The Aaron James Dixon Memorial Fund is ring fenced within the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young. The aim of the Fund is to raise money to fund Free Heart Screening for young adults aged between 14-35 in Cheshire, North West & The Lake District.
Each Screening Day costs £6,000.00 where 100 young adults are screened, which involves a medical history questionnaire, an ECG, consultation with the Consultant and if needed an Echocardiogram.
"Since the loss of my only son Aaron I have realised that this is a huge issue and I have now made it my mission to save as many young lives and raise awareness of these potentially deadly heart defects.
No parent should have to bury their child"
