As many of you already know, animal welfare is a subject very close to my heart and having decided to quit smoking on 14th December 2016, I decided I wanted to set myself a real challenge (on top of the non-smoking!) to raise money for a great cause, which I wouldn’t otherwise be able to do with smoky lungs :) ….hence my commitment to cycling roughly 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats between 12th and 24th June 2018 for Dogs Trust.
I chose Dogs Trust as it is the largest dog welfare charity who rescue and rehome dogs all over the UK (Ireland too)….they never put a healthy dog down, which I’m sure you will agree is a truly worthy charity to raise money for.
I chose this particular challenge as I wanted to do something I haven’t ever come close to before, something I could never attempt to do whilst still smoking and something that I would have to work and train really hard for ….I haven’t ridden a bicycle for over fifteen years and as my nearest and dearest will attest to, my idea of exercise doesn’t involve anything that sets my heart rate higher than 70bpm !!
I am determined to complete this challenge and raise as much money for Dogs Trust as possible; I’ve set myself a goal of £6,000 and with the help of various fundraising activities which will be organised before June 2018, together with sponsorship from all of you similar dog-loving friends out there, I hope to be able to achieve this.
Thank you all very much for taking the time to visit my page and in advance for any donation you feel able to give.
