I heard about the Silver Star unit when I had complications during my first pregnancy. My son Alfie was born healthy and well just before midnight on 14th January 2018, and I believe the experience and equipment provided by Silver Star were the main reason he arrived safely.
I took advantage of the many CTG machines that Silver Star have been raising funds for both to monitor my baby during pregnancy (while I suffered from high blood pressure and pre-natal depression/ anxiety) and during my long, medicated labour for the 60 hrs after my waters broke at 37 weeks. I also spent some of my stay with my husband Phil in one of the Family Rooms on level 6 provided by Silver Star funds andtook advantage of the bright and comfortable day room to stretch my legs and have a welcome change of scenery during the 6 days pre and post baby that I was confined to the JR hospital!
As my Alfie turns two in January 2020, I feel my body is sufficiently recovered to face the next challenge – the London Marathon – to raise much needed funds to help other mums and unborn babies across Oxfordshire.
