We fund lifesaving research to to tackle heart and circulatory diseases

Story

As you will all know I work for a great cause and have raised money over the past 3 years for them by doing a few different challenges.

This is the year to really challenge myself with something that is new to me, A RUN! And to raise money for another brilliant cause in memory of a very lovely lady! My mum always used to say I could achieve anything I put my mind to, if I worked hard, and man im going to have to work hard to do this one! :-)

I have chose The British Heart Foundation as heart problems have had a huge affect on my family, and hopefully any money raised may help another family.

The money raised by the British Heart Foundation is used to educate, research, campaign and care. Below is a little about what they do:-

Their Vision - couldn’t be much more ambitious - a world where people no longer die prematurely from heart disease.

Within a generation, they aim to:

  • reduce cardiovascular disease in the UK to one of the lowest levels in Europe.

Within a decade, they aim to:

  • halve the number of people under 75 who die from cardiovascular disease
  • make sure at least two thirds of people under 75 survive a heart attack
  • reduce heart-related deaths in all UK local authority areas to the current level in South East England or below
  • reverse the increase in childhood obesity.

Research - Their Mend a Broken Heart Appeal

At the moment, there's no cure for a broken heart. Once your heart muscle is damaged by a heart attack, it can never fully recover. But there is hope. British Heart Foundation need to spend £50 million to fund groundbreaking research that could begin to literally 'mend broken hearts' in as little as ten years time. Your support can give hope to hundreds of thousands of people across the UK

Information - They will provide vital information to help people reduce their own heart health risk.

Campaigning - They will get government to establish policies that minimise the risk of developing heart and circulatory disease

Patient Care - There are over 400 BHF Heart Nurses nationwide, all providing expert cardiac care for patients in their homes and in hospital. By continuing to fund and support them, they plan to raise standards well into the future.
