Why I’m taking on this challenge...
In 2008 our son Gabriel was born sleeping, six weeks before he was due to enter this world. Nothing prepared us for it and we knew nothing about stillbirth! Unfortunately the medical team which looked after us could not provide any explanation as to why this tragic moment happened in our lives. And as we learnt through the support of Sands we were not alone.
There is not a day goes by that we as a family don’t think about Gabriel, our daughter Grace often speaks of him and continues to write to him, and draw him as she has grown up over the years.
Over 100 women and families a week experience a similar experience to mine. And by the time I have run my race on the 24th April 2016 nearly 3,000 babies will have been lost and the process of grieving begins with many questions left unanswered...
I hope to raise £5,000 to help support Sands with their much needed research into reducing the tragic amount of stillborn babies that still occur.
Thank you in
advance for your support, on what is going to be a challenge of a lifetime...
