IM TRYING TO RAISE £5000 TO HELP WOMEN SURVIVORS OF WAR REBUILD THEIR LIVES. 

What? On the 11th October I will begin climbing the great wall of China starting in Huangyaguan, an area 59 miles east of Beijing, where the wall lies on a steep and abrupt Mountain ridge and ending in Juyongguan. I will trek for approximately 45 hours over 80 km of hills and mountains, walking on old sections of the wall as well as restored sections over the course of 7 days.

Why? In countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Afganistan and many more, brutal wars have been raging causing millions of deaths and creating uncountable casualties: the many tens of thousands of women and girls who have been systematically kidnapped, raped, mutilated and tortoured by soldiers from both foreign militias and the Congolese army.The world knows nothing of these women, their stories have never been told. They suffer and die in silence.

Charity: Women For Women International works with socially excluded women in eight countries where war and conflict have devestated lives and communities. Each woman they serve has her own story - some of loved ones murdered and others of physical and emotional trauma. Most have endured a struggle for survival.

Through this charity, these women will be enrolled in a one year programme where they learn job skills and receive business training so they can earn a living. They will come to understand their rights and how to fight for those rights in their homes, their communities and their nations and become leaders.
