Story
Earlier this year I was one of 37,000 men in the UK who will be diagnosed this year with prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, and kills 10,000 men each year in the UK. Fortunately for me treatment was available and I'm now recovering following surgery. My treatment was available because surgeons and medical teams have benefited from funded research and training that continues to improve the treatment available.
The Urology Foundation (TUF) is a primary source of such funding in the UK. It funds research into better diagnoses and treatments, supports specialist training, and provides grants for UK surgeons to work with the most highly regarded specialists across the world practising the latest techniques.
In November 2013 I cycled 450km in 6 days in South Africa in aid of TUF alongside my consultant, his peers, nurses who treated me, and fellow patients. I personally covered all my participation costs so, if you still wish to sponsor me, every penny you donate will go directly to TUF.
