Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I started running a year ago after my sister in law ran the London Marathon, I smoked quite a bit and after a bet that I could never run a half marathon I gave up then and there and completed one in September. My wife and 2 boys are very proud of me changing my lifestyle around.

My worthy cause is to raise money for the Neuro ward at the hospital, after my wife was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2011. She was lucky enough to find it early but after constant scans on the January 2014 they decided that as the tumour was growing they would operate to try and remove it. The operation went well, but they could not get it all out. Luckily it is benign and grade 2, but this can all change when it decides to start growing again. We now go to the hospital every year for a scan, hopefully this stays like that for many more years. There have been a few local families going through similar procedures, some not so successful but the ward continue to support them. My wife and these local sufferers have all been dealt with by the same surgeon and tumour team, and I'm sure you will all agree that helping the ward with equipment and giving vital funds will help other families with the devastating diagnosis that is a brain tumour. I couldn't think of a more worth while cause to run for on my first marathon. Thanks for taking the time to read my story, looking forward to Manchester in April, many thanks for your donation 😀
