Story
On any given night, tens of thousands of families and individuals are experiencing the worst forms of homelessness across Great Britain, this includes over 200,000 households in England alone.
To help combat this ever-increasing issue, I will be taking part in a sponsored sleepout during the weekend of 18th of March.
By putting myself into the shoes of a homeless person - albeit for a short time - I will try to get an insight into what it’s like for those who have no choice but to sleep rough every night.
With a better understanding of the challenges the homeless face, I hope I can bring about meaningful changes and increase awareness of the hidden difficulties.
I fully appreciate that this will be a brief encounter of the struggles that homeless people face, but I would like to raise funds for a charity that is continually supporting homeless people throughout England.
Hand On Heart is a charity that provides essential items packs throughout the year and tailors the contents according to the seasonal needs. In 2021 alone they distributed 4,000 essential item packs, 750 sleeping bags and 500 rain jackets.
During the 3 day sleepout, I will have nothing with me other than the essential items pack that is usually provided by Hand on Heart to their guests.
In completing the sponsored sleepout, I endeavour to raise £5,000. This will enable Hand on Heart to provide 250 essential items packs to homeless people in the UK.
Please donate and join me in helping make a change to a homeless person's life. Your kind donations will ensure that a homeless person will have access to much needed items, items that we usually take for granted.
Thank you so much for your support!
