Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Cuba by Bike - November 2010 - 21st - 29th

So let me begin...

My good friend Jenni** E-mailed me out of the blue one average July morning asking if I fancied doing a sponsored cycle with her. We both had been making an effort recently to cycle to and from work so I though why not...

Next thing I knew I was on here setting up my sponsorship page and filling out forms to embark on a 216mile cycle trip round CUBA!

CUBA!!! I thought she was maybe talking about a wee jolly around the countryside up here in Hilly Aberdeenshire, so a wee bit of shock about the whole thing would be an understatement. I've raised money for charity in the past Skydiving and White Water Rafting both of which were challenging to say the least. I know that this new challenge is the toughest yet but that said I'm ready to grab the bull by the horns give it all I've got!!

The Details...

I will be raising money for The Anthony Nolan Trust - Taking back lives from leukaemia.

Cycling a total of 216 miles over 5 days we will see Havana, Cienfeugos, Trinidad, Topes de Collantes and Santa Clara.  I need to raise atleast £2,800.00 to be eligible to take part, I will be putting a lot of hard work into training and saving money myself so would really appreciate it if you could give all you can to help me help this amazing charity save more lives.

How your money could help to take back lives from leukaemia:

- £50 is the adverage cost which enables a new potential life saver's blood sample to be tissue typed and potentially quickly identified as a potential life saver when a patient in need of a transplant is identified.

 - £300 is the adverage cost of promoting a regional donor drive for getting potential lifesavers onto the bone marrow register.

 - £700 is the adverage cost of the collection of potentially lifesaving cord blood.  This includes the specialist equipment, materials and time of a midwife to complete the collection.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read though my page.

**Unfortunately due to reasons outwith her control Jenni had to step out of the challenge. I am doing it for the both of us now so please bare this in mind when you make your donation.
