Story

Hi there

From David: Me and Stuart are running the London Marathon this year in aid of the hospice that looked after my brilliant dad, John Clews.

It's called St Richard's and is in Worcester. They were so great with us all at the worst time of our lives - me, my mum and sister will be forever grateful. Ria in the fundraising office has high hopes for us, and we really don't want to let her down. "You work in TV," she said, "I’ve flicked through the PACT Terms of Trade on Format Rights. Bring in the wonga, boys".  As anyone knows who has lost someone they love, not a day goes by without being reminded of them somehow. With Dad, I miss his steady guidance and knowing I could always ring him and he'd have an answer to any question.   The day we lost him changed all our lives and St Richard's enabled that to happen in as dignified way as possible.  Every year they care for 2500 people and their families, and any money we raise will help them continue to do this incredible work.  This is a hugely personal thing for me and I really appreciate anything you can give. Thanks and lots of love.

From Stuart: I'm doing this because I love David very very very much (David's words) and he clearly absolutely adored his Dad. I wish I had met him. If running this marathon for him and his Dad doesn't make me sound amazing you have something seriously wrong with yourself and your marriage. If angels exist, as me and Robbie think they might, then I'm banking on them shortening the run so it comes in at a more do-able 3.2 miles and not the more challenging 26.2.  Fingers crossed. Thanks to St Richard's for being a bit of heaven on earth and thanks to Ria in the fundraising office for being a laugh and being encouraging, though in fairness it's easy for her to mouth off when she’s not the one with sore testicles every weekend. Lots of love to everyone there and thank you for chipping in whatever you can (I say that - if it's under a quid, forget it). If you see us on the day please cheer us on because I think we are going to need it.
