Story
Five years ago my sister-in-law Elizabeth died peacefully at home with her family surrounding her. Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses were available to come and look after her over the night time to allow family members who were providing daytime care to get some rest and peace of mind at night.
We were aware at the time that there was a shortage of trained Marie Curie Nurses nearby simply due to a shortage of funds. We were lucky to be able to have all the help we needed.
It is so important to keep voluntary funds flowing in so that families now and in the future will be able to receive this wonderful help and support at the time when they need it.
I will be rowing my converted sailing canoe “Timbers Too” the 27 km from to the Lifeboat Station at Broughty Ferry on 17th June. I will be accompanied by the 34 foot twin engined launch owned and operated by the charity (www.taymara.org) whose crew will communicate with the Dundee Port Authority to ensure our safety in the vicinity of any shipping in the area and to keep an eye on my progress.
Your donation in support of my efforts will go towards the provision of Marie Curie Cancer Care nurses providing high quality nursing, totally free, to give people with terminal cancer and other illnesses the choice of dying at home, supported by their families
