ROBIN HOOD HALF MARATHON: MADE IT!  (JUST)

13 Sept: The half marathon took 2 hours 35 minutes. I've never been so knackered in my life. But it was a great experience.

14 Sept: Today my legs are killing me and I can't do stairs any more! I hope you now will feel inspired to make a donation. Everything you give will go to help poor children in Uganda, as my son Joe goes there for a year to work in a poor community and school.

BACKGROUND

My son Joe, aged 17, is going to give a year of his life to work as a volunteer in a school in a poor community near Kampala, Uganda. The school teachers are always over-worked and Joe will:

- support the Ugandan teachers

- help teach the pupils, help them learn, mark their work

- lead activities in sports, music and arts

- support local churches in their community activities

- visit local hospitals, hospices, community projects, slums

- do manual work: digging, tiling, painting, decorating

Joe will spend a year doing this and more. It will make a massive difference in the lives of the local children.

To do all this for a year Joe will have many expenses to pay. So to support him in his own fundraising efforts I am running in the

ROBIN HOOD HALF MARATHON on Sunday September 11th.

I have NEVER in my life run 13 miles, and here I am doing it aged 51 years old. My joints are the main worry, particularly the knees! I went on a long run at the weekend and now I can hardly walk ..... oh dear!
