Story
Fighting Male Cancer the Hard Way.... By Climbing Mountains!
As many of you may know I was recently diagnosed with a rare male cancer. I received treatment for this and thankfully I am now in the clear. The whole experience got me thinking about what I could do make sure other people didn't have to go through the same experience. With your help I want to try and raise a sizeable sum for Orchid.
Orchid are a male cancer charity based at St Barts Hospital in London. As one of the lesser known cancer charities I think this is a great opportunity to support them, or at least raise their profile.
To this end I will be completing the '3 Peak Challenge'
On July 9th 2010 I will be travelling around the UK attempting to climb up 3 of Britain's tallest mountains - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon... In 24 hours! Walking over 40km involving 2,984m of ascent and descent. Although an ordeal, you can see from my photo I am more than prepared.
However this is made extra hard for me because:
1. I am still sore from my operation to remove the cancer
2. I have only just recovered from breaking my leg and have a permanent titanium pin in my left tibia.
3. You normally train for 6 months before hand.
But rest assured I will succeed. Nothing will stop me.
