Story
On October 9th I'll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money for Sight for Surrey.
Having been diagnosed with a trauma-related eye condition at the age of 17 I experienced gradual sight loss in my twenties and thirties.
In 2020 my vision reached a point where I needed to start using assistive technology and I contacted local charity Sight for Surrey to ask for guidance.
The help they provided was crucial in giving me the confidence to request adjustments at my workplace and feel comfortable talking more openly about being sight-impaired.
Established in 1922 Sight for Surrey provides support and practical guidance to people living with hearing and sight loss. In its centenary year the charity has exciting plans to broaden its coverage across Surrey's eye clinics and expand its range of services in the community.
I am honoured to have been asked to become a trustee of the charity and would hugely appreciate your support to reach my fundraising target.
