Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page troops.
I am completing my first GNR in memory of my mother who passed away in March 2017 following a battle with cancer.
Many of you will know how my whole family were effected with her illness and the devastating effect it had on us when she passed away.
From a routine GP appointment on Christmas eve 2015 my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and underwent two gruelling courses chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Despite the best care from staff at the Freeman, nurses at Macmillian, carers and her amazing friends she died 15 months later.
My mother and my brothers were supported every step of the way by staff and volunteers from Maggies at the Freeman Hospital - they were always on hand to offer advice and support to my mother and my brothers at every stage during her illness.
My mother found solace in speaking to staff there who helped her prepare for her treatment and palliative care.
I ask that you donate what ever you can to this great cause, its a support network I hope you never ever have to use, I had never heard of the charity before my mothers illness but it offered a lifeline to my family when we needed it.
Thanks again for looking at this page and thank you to everyone who have donated money to me, I greatly appreciate it.
Dave
