Story
Hello!
Thanks for popping by.
I’m neither a natural runner nor a natural advocate for being honest and open about mental health. So obviously I’ve decided that in 2022 I’m going to run a 10k a month and raise funds for a few charities at the same time. The bulk of the fundraising will go to SANE, but I also plan to add in some additional steps at different stages of the year for some other good causes.
For all sorts of reasons, and they aren't special at all, I’ve struggled internally for a long time with depression, and been more than a little challenging for those who I care about most as a result. There's no end of things you make tricky for others if you don't sort yourself out first.
It turns out that running helps me feel better (which would definitely be news to my 14 year old self), and that talking to a professional helps too (who knew?). So this is a small way to do something to keep myself running during those times I just get lazy, and fail to make the time I should for myself, and to raise much needed funds to support others who might not have been as lucky as me.
So far I have runs planned for:
Brighton, Exeter, Swansea, London, Olympic Park, Barry Island, Kempton, Woking, Goodwood, and Guildford, with more to confirm (because obviously it needs to add up to 12).
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Money will go to Sane (have a look at their details via the links here). They’re not just a great charity that do amazing things, they are also truly lovely people.
