Lewis Bell felt there was no other alternative. 

Diagnosed with dyspraxia early in his teens, Lewis was later diagnosed with scoliosis that brought constant pain. And not long into his university studies he was diagnosed with dyslexia. COVID cruelly took away his one means of managing the pain - the gym. Lewis took his own life on May 15th 2021. He was just 20. 

For Lewis there was no alternative, but for many other young people there may be another way. Tiny Changes, a charity founded out of the same, sad loss of a son, believes  “that it’s the right of every child to have good mental health”. 

Lewis had an imaginary friend when he was young - a dragon. By coincidence I was due to ride the Dragon Ride on June 6th - a fearsome ride in the Welsh mountains. COVID stopped that too. But I am determined to do my own Dragon Ride before the end of July, in honour of Lewis and those suffering like he did.. My good friend John Grindley and I hope to complete a brutal 324km / 4500m in one day here in Scotland. 

My aim is to try to raise awareness of young people struggling with their lives. If we can help just one person find a different way forward to the one chosen by Lewis, we too will have made Tiny Changes. Please share this message with everyone you know.
