Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My 18 year old son Christopher was killed in a motor cycle accident on the 22nd August 2012.
On a date between the 29th June and the 5th of July 2021 I will be embarking on a solo swim across the English Channel, a distance of 21 miles in a straight line, although I will undoubtedly be covering a greater distance because of the tides and currents. The sea temperature generally ranges between 14 and 18 degrees and I will be swimming in a pair of trunks, hat and goggles. There is a good chance of meeting jellyfish, seaweed and the occasional plank of wood. As well as being passed by some of the 600 tankers and 200 ferries/seacats and other vessels going across daily.
In 2013 I swam Lake Windermere in Christopher's memory, but have now ditched the wet suit to take on one of the ultimate long distance swimming challenges and to once again raise money for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, a service that may have been able to help Christopher had he survived and who successfully assist many people each year.
