Fundraising for RMA - The Royal Marines Charity
Story
On 2nd June 2011 I am going to attempt the ascent of the world's highest free standing mountain (i.e. not in a range) as part of the David Barnes Testimonial year. Part of David's year is committed to raising funds for charities -please check out the Website - www.davidbarnestestimonial.com
I have paid every penny of the trip , so absolutely none of the contribution shall go towards any of my costs and this maximises the benefit to the charity and my chances maximised by using the experienced Teamkilimanjaro organisation.
I have decided to appeal for sponsorship for a charity that overarches all the Royal Marine charities ensuring targetted and effective use of funds to help serving and retired Royal Marines and their families. They are no more or less deserving than the other forces but given the types of operations on which they are deployed, I feel them to be worthy of a solo effort.
For those of you who don't know me, I recently visited my doctor who pronounced all my vital functions as being sound but added that I am a bit of a 'Tubster'! Thus my resolve to lose some weight, achieve an ambition and raise some funds for a very worthy charity.
