On Sunday 15 June 2014 I'll join thousands of other people on a sponsored cycle ride from Clapham Common, London to Brighton in support of the British Heart Foundation.
Cycling has been part of my personal fitness routine for several years and whilst I'm no Sir Bradley Wiggins, I do enjoy getting out on my bike. Its also a good excuse to slip on the lycra!
The 54 mile route is all on roads and whilst only a 'warm-up' to Sir Bradley will be a serious physical challenge to me, but should be good fun and a great experience. It's also an opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause.
Heart disease is the biggest single killer in the UK, accounting for a quarter of all deaths. My father Len Buxton was a victim, suffering a heart attack aged 55 and dying of heart disease in March 2000 aged 75 years.
I WILL complete the course, but need your support to achieve my goal of raising £1000 for the British Heart Foundation which I'm sure you will agree is a very worthy cause.
I will meet all my travel and accommodation expenses, so every penny you donate will directly support the valuable work of BHF. If you are a UK taxpayer, HM Government will give BHF £1 for every £4 you donate, so please remember to tick the Gift Aid section on the Just Giving page.
I really appreciate your support. Please spread the word and encourage your friends to support my venture.
Very Best Wishes
David
