Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 2nd August this year I will take part in the Prudential Ride London cycling event alongside 25,000+ other cyclists, I guess it's the London Marathon of the cycling world. 100 miles on closed roads, up hills, down dales and regardless of whatever the weather throws at us. 100 miles is hard, I've done it once, it took me 6 3/4 hours to complete, this time I want to complete it in 5 3/4 hours, but this isn't about me, it's about helping people who have Alzheimer's, most of us will know someone who has or had this awful disease.
UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
On the 16th May I am also going to ride my bike on a stationary 'Turbo Trainer' for 100 miles in Stonehouse High Street, opposite the Co-Op, to raise more money for this important cause. It's going to be tough, sat in one position for up to 6 hours, no hills to coast down, but I have support from friends and family who will help me get through it, and hopefully the townsfolk of Stonehouse will be generous with donations. Come along and say hello on the day, I'll be there and I won't be going anywhere!
5 years ago I lost my Mum to Alzheimer's. Anyone who has been through the same will know what a horrible disease it is not just for the person suffering with it, it doesn't discriminate, it's not just for elderly people and there is no cure. Help and support is available however and through your help and generosity we can help those that have it, just to make their lives a bit more tolerable, give them back some dignity, take away some frustration perhaps, give them support and care. Please help me help them, every last penny will be so very much appreciated. Who knows, one day it might be us needing the support.
