Story
Finlay had a real passion for life. Building Dens, exploring in the woods to sport, playing the Xbox or reading, if something looked fun he wanted to give it a go. He had a cheeky sense of humour and always a question (or 10!), he wanted to know everything about everything and explore.
He also had a strong sense of what was right and wrong, and caring. He wanted to help where he could, and took pleasure in helping others. There are many examples of this, from asking for money to give to a homeless person, to asking to donate his pocket money to WWF to happily showing a younger child how to build loom bands at the park (and making some for her and her friends when she was struggling).
Sadly, in July 2014, aged 8, he passed away from Meningitis.
SInce then, friends and family have raised incredible sums for charities in Finlay's honour and, in the last year, we have established Finlay's Friends, a charity to provide comfort kits to Parents and carers of children admitted to hospital in an emergency. To provide support, compassion and show care for parents who are going through the toughest of times and when they need it most seems a fitting tribute to such a fine young boy.
To raise funds I and a couple of other 'tough mudders' will be tackling the Glencoe challenge. 26 miles over varying terrain and hills (with over 5000 feet of ascent!), from Glencoe to the foot of Ben Nevis to be completed in 12 hours it will be tough but worth every blister if we can raise some funds.
So, if you can spare some money and would like to support to charity please sponsor me, all donations, large or small, are very much appreciated
Thanks
Dave
