As many of you will know, my Dad Mike passed away from Cancer over a year ago now.  During the year or so from initially being diagnosed, he approached the illness with an amazing degree of pragmatism and dignity, although his last few weeks were especially hard.  During this most difficult time he was cared for by the kind and compassionate staff at St David’s Hospice in Llandudno. 

Initially I had planned on completing a cycle ride from Cambs to Llandudno to raise much needed funds for the hospice, but this, along with many other planned events this year have ended up being cancelled due to CV-19.  

Rather bizarrely (or stupidly?!), the cancellation of a range of events has ended up with me finally signing up for what will probably be the hardest challenge, as I have secured a place in the 40th London Marathon (run virtually) on 4th October 2020.  I plan to run the marathon in a small group of friends around Grafham water on the above date.*  Not only have I never run a marathon before, but I only began running any sort of distance again following knee ops, during 2020.  (The cumulative distance I ran between 2017, 18 & 19 is a total of 27 miles, so this really is a massive jump)!
