Story
In order to raise money for the Eden Valley Hospice and Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club I will be attempting to row the seven longest lakes of the lake district in one day. The total distance to be rowed is 64 km (40 miles). The date of completion will be weather dependant but hopefully 10th October 2009. Last year I completed the challenge in 10 hours, which I am aimng to beat this year.
TTARC was founded in 1859. The current boathouse is in need of replacement due to both age and lack of space for the ever-increasing membership. The sum required for the re-build of the boathouse is £350,000. The club provides opportunities for both adults and children to participate and compete in what is an increasingly popular sport. Donations made on this page will go to Eden valley Hospice but if you would like to make a donation to the Boat Club, Cheques made payable to Talkin Tarn Amateur Rowing Club can be sent to me at

Eden Valley Hospice cares for patients, both adult and children, from and the South West Scotland area with life-limiting conditions, striving to provide the highest standards of nursing and medical care, to sustain quality of life and dignity and to provide patients with relief from pain.
The annual cost of providing the service is now £2.7 Million, about 25% of which is provided by the local NHS leaving £1.95m a year to be raised in order to sustain the hospice.
