Story

THANK  YOU!

It would be fairly easy to say a huge thank you too everyone for all your support during my Marathon training and beyond, thought I would try this instead:

For me Running 26.2 miles around London was much more than a physical challenge, put your hands up if you go through life thinking you aren't good enough? you could never do this or that? I don't have what it takes? Completing this monumentous task is all about YOU and only YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN! what you need is will-power, grit, buckets loads of determination and more than a smidgen of sacrifice. If you think you can miss a training run when the weather is being British and your inner voice is telling you to put the kettle on and grab the TV remote and a blanket, think again! At the Start line in Greenwich Park in my mind I had already completed the biggest task of all, getting there in the best shape possible. Going brilliantly through the first half up to tower bridge it suddenly hit me, pain started to creep in in places I never thought could hurt, I stayed on course utterly determined not to jack it all in!  However at 19 miles the Marathon began to what I thought was 'have the last laugh', knowing how many people I would let down I began to put one foot in front of the other, every mile from here on in was a complete blur, after I passed that 'big clock' , redemption from all the doubters including myself was in sight, I passed 'Maams' house and saw a blurred red banner beginning with the letter F, I didn't exactly burst through the finish line but the feeling of accomplishment nearly drew me to tears! I could barely muster the energy to lift my head to receive my medal! then they dump your goody bag on you which feels like it has an Anvil in it and drag you away from finish line at what seems like break neck speed! it took me an age to walk to Nelson's Column to meet up with my other half, I couldn't hold it in any longer tears flooded when the reality of it all kicked in with a vengeance, it wasn't about the medal they put around my neck but the fact I am now a MARATHON MAN which no one can ever take away from me! Many thanks to ALL and sundry and to my doubters!!!
