Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit David's JustGiving page.
The big "C", the word everyone dreads and something you hope will never affect friends or family. Every year, cancer takes so many lives and sadly David was a victim of this cruel disease at the tender age of 61.
Oesophageal cancer is one of the most aggressive and difficult to diagnose, with symptoms only showing once the cancer has progressed. After the initial shock of the diagnosis, as well as coming to terms with living with the disease, it was also a trying time to navigate all the processes and red tape of dealing with the NHS and thank goodness private healthcare was at our disposal and treatment could be started asap rather than waiting. Despite the aggressive treatment regime and alternative diet that followed, David kept a positive attitude throughout, always looking forward to the day that he would return to flying.
Life was not always easy but David lived his short life to the full. His passions in life apart from flying included a love of fast cars, exploring the world and spending time with family.
He was a remarkable husband, father and friend that will be desperately missed.
To improve the awareness, diagnosis, treatment and hopefully one day a cure for cancer, or more specifically oesophagael cancer, the family and David would gratefully appreciate your donations be they large or small to this worthwhile cause.
