London Marathon 2024 · 21 April 2024 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After losing my Dad on the 8th October 2020. I decided I wanted to help raise awareness of this illness, and to say thank you to all the carers and staff at Dementia Uk, for all the support they gave Dad, and to Mum in looking after Dad.
Although Dad didn't die from this, in the end, we as a family saw first hand what a horrible and evil illness this is. Seeing Dad fighting fit but not knowing the things he might do, or not knowing what he did yesterday, but then happily chatting about the war, and things from when he was a child and all the things he would get up to. Luckily, we as a family didn't get to see how bad it could have got. So, my heart goes out to everyone out there who has gone through it or is going through it.
Without the caring support of carers, who helped Mum look after him, it would have been so much harder. From helping to get him up in the morning, taking him out to be with others, and giving mum a break I thank you.
So, in return I have decided to run the London marathon, one last time. I have said I want to do one more marathon, so what better way to do it, than for an amazing charity and in memory of Dad xx
So please can i ask you to dig deep, i know times are tough but anything would be greatly appreciated.
Love always
Darren (Son of the best dad ever)
