Story
Hello, for those that don’t know, since Covid first struck in 2020 I started to try and keep fit by running a couple of times each week. This got me thinking about taking part in a half marathon and even contemplating the full marathon. Fortunately or Unfortunately (depending on how I look at this) I happened to mention this to my friends at Cavendish Cancer Care right at the point they got the news that they had been lucky enough to secure a London Marathon place. These places are incredibly valuable to a charity like Cavendish who only get the chance to go into a ballot for one every three years.
I am not sure if this will end up killing me but I'm really proud to confirm that I have accepted the opportunity of running for Cavendish knowing that every penny raised will provide vital support for local cancer patients and their families. So I would be really grateful if you could join with me and help make a difference to the families that turn to Cavendish for support by raising as much money as possible. In order that you get the full blood, sweat and tears for your donations and for some crazy reason, I agreed to take on the extremely tough Sheffield Half Marathon and completed this in March. I will then attempt the Great North Run in September before the big day finally arrives for the London Marathon on October 2nd. This will all be done to try and raise vital funds for Cavendish.
Cavendish Cancer Care is a local independent charity that for more than 30 years has been providing free of charge support packages to cancer patients and their families. They believe no one should face cancer alone so provide care and support to alleviate the physical and psychological effects cancer and its treatments brings.
They receive just enough government funding to keep the doors open for two weeks each year, and rely on the support of people like you to be there for all those who need them, at what is one of the most frightening times in their life.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and you continued encouragement and support.
Please give as generously as you can.
Thank you
Darren
