Story
April 2013 - Oscar was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy.
It's a simple statement to make but the impact of that statement will reverberate through the lives of Oscar, Alison, Tilly, Amelie and I every day of every year for the rest of our lives.
To most parents (including us to that point) a child's future is unlimited, unfettered, free. Oscar's life and those with the various muscular dystrophy conditions will be very different.
Simplistically this changes nothing. He is our lovely boy and we continue to love and support him whatever challenges our future brings as a family.
Put bluntly Oscar's body will deteriorate over time, his muscles weakening, slowly restricting his movement until he is unable to walk. The most key organs a little boy needs, his heart and lungs will fail last.
This is not a plea for Oscar it is a plea to support the charity that researches the 60 or so muscular dystrophy conditions that affect children and adults alike.
The research into these conditions appears to be at a cusp. Promising treatments are progressing fast. With the governments proposed changes to the approval processes for progressive diseases - to fast track treatments there is a real chance that Oscar could benefit. Even if he doesn't we're committed to helping children and adults like him.
Anything that you donate however small or large WILL make a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
