Story
My name is Danny I am 30 years old. I am registered blind, due to an eye condition known as Retinitis Pigmentosa. This condition starts in childhood and progressively gets worse over time. This condition has caused me a considerable amount of sight loss. I have very little usable sight, which affects me on a day to day basis.
Over the years I have spent a lot of time in denial regarding my sight loss, I just wanted a normal life of driving, watching football and admiring beautiful women. I have lost a lot of confidence, which has affected my independence and self worth. I was at a low point in my life when I came across the charity Henshaws society for blind people. I can honestly say they have changed my life. They have helped me to gain my confidence back, by providing help with travelling independently, living skills, confidence building using sport and friends that I can relate to as we share similar sight loss journeys. For this I am truly grateful to them.
To show my appreciation for the amazing work of Henshaws and everything they have done for me, this May, myself and Michael (my guide runner) will be raising money for them by doing the Manchester 10k and would be grateful if you could put your hand in your pocket to make a donation. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
