Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. We’re striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia.

Story

The man in the picture is my Uncle, My Uncle Jonny.

He's just 55 year-old  and living with advanced Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD, Picks Disease).

FTD is a relatively rare form of dementia, it only accounts for less than 5% of all dementia cases.

FTD causes:

  1. Personality and behaviour changes
  2. Language and communication problems
  3. Mental ability difficulties
  4. Memory problems
  5. Physical problems, slow, stiff movements, incontinence, muscle weakness and swallowing difficulties.

Daily activities we take for granted become virtually impossible and this is where he's at, My Uncle Jonny is fully dependent on his family, his friends and respite carers for all his daily activities, for all his basic needs.

There is currently no cure for FTD or any treatment that will slow it down.

And the only way to beat dementia is through research.

So to help raise awareness and vital funds for Alzheimer's Research UK will take part in a charity.

Alzheimer's Research UK receive no government funding, they are completely dependent on the generosity of you, their supporters and fund raisers.

So please give what you can, every little helps. Of every £1 that is raised 84p goes into research and the remaining 16p into fundraising to raise more ££££.

By signing up  for this challenge, I have committed myself to raising the minimum of £425, So family, friends, social media mates and strangers, help a girl out 🤑 Thank you, Thank you and Thank you xxx
