On 15 September I will be tackling the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
It's a 23 mile circular walk and by all accounts pretty tough for a novice walker like me, so I would really appreciate your support!
Motor Neurone Disease is a devastating disease. Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. There is no cure and life expectancy is just 2 to 5 years from the point of diagnosis.
My good friend Ellen has inspired me in her efforts to raise money for her dear friend Ned who was diagnosed with MND at the age of 33, before this he was an active and healthy Harrier pilot. This disease has turned his life upside down and left him unable to move, eat or speak. But almost 9 years later he is still fighting and determined to spend as much time as possible with his wife and young son.
Ned's courage and determination has inspired me to do this walk. Please can you help me raise loads of money to support the important work of the MNDA and to fund research so that some day (hopefully soon) there will be a cure.
So please donate as much as you can afford, your money will really make a difference.
Thanks for reading!
