Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.
Daniel and Leo Kemp are undertaking bike rides during 2015 to raise funds for CASPA www.caspabromley.org.uk (Children on the Autistic Spectrum Parents Association, Registered Charity No. 1110260) which is a fantastic local charity based near home in Bromley, Kent.
CASPA background:
Set up in 2002, CASPA currently work with around 100 children, young people (aged 0-25 years) and their families every week. They are passionate about providing inspirational activities and opportunities for them to develop their social, communication and independent living skills, gain confidence and increase their chances of integration into society which many others take for granted.
Family friend Helen Dyer is a director of CASPA (helen@caspabromley.org.uk) , one of the driving forces behind its success and continued efforts to help those affected by Autism.
Ride 1. completed.
Leo (aged 9) and Daniel (aged 37 1/3) both completed a 54 mile bike ride from Hayes to Brighton on Sunday 3rd May 2015 together with 140 other children and adults from Big Foot Bike Club.
In truly awful wet and windy conditions for the first 2 1/2 hours, Leo came off his bike twice, around mile 11 (pothole) and mile 14 (lost footing on slippery pedal). Despite both accidents (a little bruised but fine), Leo carried on and with more than a little determination completed the course including cycling over Devils Dyke and a total of 3080 feet of climbing.
The journey left Hayes at 08:30, arriving Brighton seafront 17:45. Actual moving time 6 hours 13 minutes.
Ride 2. completed.
Daniel (& 25,000 others) completed the 100 mile Prudential London-Surrey on Sunday 2nd August 2015.
Blue Start time 08:30; Rider Number 26621.
Sweepstake finish time & bubbly for the winner
I am holding sweepstake for your general amusement (charitable donations which will go in the CASPA pot are welcome, those already sponsored you're covered!). A bottle of champagne will be sent to whoever correctly guesses the nearest time to my actual official finish time. This is the amount of time it will take to complete the ride in hours and minutes, rather than the time of day I finish.
Literally have no idea how long this will take, other than everyone must finish before the roads get re-opened at 17:30, that gives me 9 hours max!
We will go with my official Ride London finish time rather than the Strava one.
Official finish time 5 hours 57 minutes. Congrats to Tommy Jones
Thank you for all your support and donations which are very gratefully received by this wonderful organisation (please do not feel obliged to donate). Thank you in advance.
with kind regards, Daniel and Leo Kemp
