Working for the the policy team at Cancer Research UK I often talk to lots of people about the important fundraising work we do but haven't yet taken part in a major event. 

I'm taking part in Shine to help raise money for the vital science that just wouldn't take place if Cancer Research UK didn't exist. Taking part alongside other supporters is going to be a great feeling and I can't wait for the 29th September.

To anyone questioning my dedication to this, I would point out that it is my girlfriend's birthday the evening before. I'm not sure she's going to appreciate a bday meal of egg whites and protein shakes.
