Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I ran my first London marathon in 1998 and have now run marathons in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, London (three times) and the New Forest. This year, I am running the inaugural Brighton Marathon.

The charity I am representing is Treehouse, at http://www.treehouse.org.uk/

It is dedicated to autism education, running a school in London for children with autism and campaigning for better autism education.

My personal connection with Treehouse is through my two nephews who are severely autistic. They attend a specialist school near where they live. Children with autism have an all consuming impact on their families lives. Specialist schooling is vital to help children maximise their potential and help parents cope. It is amazing to see how far they have developed in such a caring and safe environment. The school also gives parents the tools to nuture their child's development. I believe such schools and associated charities should be given as much support as possible.

So, please give as much as you can and I'll do the miles!

Here are some examples of how your money will help:

£20 Will pay for a class outing to activities such as bowling or swimming. Such activities are difficult for families to provide without additional support.

£30 Will purchase blank portable communication books which will be tailored to include the range of symbols relevant to the child’s life. Many pupils do not have speech so this is vital to enable communication with other people.

£50 Will contribute to a specialist sports coach. This allows pupils to take part in an exciting program including football, cricket and basketball in a safe environment utilising specialist coaching with dedicated support staff.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Everything you donate goes to Treehouse. I will not take any travel or accomodation costs.
