Hello,
I am participating in the Romanian Bear Adventure 2011 from September 11th-17th. It is a charity trek to raise money for the WSPA's work towards the rescuing and rehabilitation of captive bears around the world. Bears who are in captivity for reasons such as the horrific practice of bear bile farming or bear baiting and dancing or simply in captivity in tiny cages for entertainment as pets.
The charity challenge is to trek approximately 300km in distance, over 5 days, through the Carpathian Mountains in Romania.

About the bears and the WSPA sanctuary

£10 - Could pay for micro-chipping several captive bears
£15 - Could pay for food for a rescued bear for 1 week
£20 - Will pay for an hour of a vets time to work on a mobile veterinary clinic
£25 - Could pay for a day's training for a new sanctuary staff
£50 - Will pay for an undercover investigator's time to gather evidence of illegal animal cruetly
£200 - Could pay to look after a rescued bear cub for a month
