Story
I have always said I would do it and now I am ! Having got the running bug I now hope to find the time to train hard and get around the London Marathon in a respectable time ! I did not get a ballot place but searched for charities I felt do good work and found Docklands Settlement fit my ideal perfectly and I thank them for accepting my application, I have promised to raise £1250 in sponsorship so please dig deep ! They are a small charity based in the East End / Docklands area of London that has 3 centres in the most deprived areas, the Isle Of Dogs, Stratford and Rotherhithe that support the local community with all ages ranging from small children through to pensioners providing social activities / sport and care facilities that range from child welfare to helping isolated pensioners with company and meals !
As many of you travel to work on the train to London these areas are the ones you see as you pass through Canary Wharfs tall bank buildings, the areas stand in the shadow of such wealth but are poles apart in terms of quality of life and I'm sure you have thought to yourself at one time as you pass through how harsh life must be living in such deprived surroundings, this charity helps such lives and brings them such happy times and sense of community....please find them on google for more info on their work !
For me it's a huge incentive and with all your support I can't wait to conquer the 26.2 miles in April on their behalf !!
